Getting Started

Connect AWS, review the resources SnoozeDB detects, and apply your first schedule.

Overview

The main workflow has four parts: create a workspace, connect AWS, review the inventory, and schedule the resources you want SnoozeDB to manage.

01

Create an organization

Choose the database capacity for your workspace.

02

Connect your AWS account

Select permission modules and deploy the generated CloudFormation stack.

03

Review the inventory

Review To triage, Managed resources, and Protected before you schedule anything.

04

Apply a schedule

Choose Business Hours, a custom schedule, or Always off.

Prerequisites

  • A SnoozeDB account (free sign-up)
  • An AWS account with permissions to deploy a CloudFormation stack
  • At least one RDS instance in a supported region

Step-by-step guide

1. Create an organization

Create a workspace and choose its database capacity. Dev is free for one managed RDS database. Team, Startup, and Scale start a 14-day trial when you connect the first AWS account.

2. Connect an AWS account

Open Cloud integrations, enter the account name and 12-digit AWS account ID, then choose the optional modules you need.

RDS Management is mandatory because scheduling is SnoozeDB's core service.

Open the generated CloudFormation stack in AWS and deploy it.

Return to SnoozeDB and complete verification. Update the stack again whenever you change permission modules.

3. Review detected resources

A sync discovers RDS and any enabled EC2 or optimization data. Review new resources in To triage, keep sensitive resources Protected, and move the resources you want to schedule into Managed resources.

4. Configure schedules

Apply Business Hours, a custom schedule, or Always off. Check the timezone and add locks for maintenance windows that automation must not interrupt.
